Cleaning Product and Laundry Scents Spell Danger

Did you know that the regular use of cleaning products can have as much impact on your lungs as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day? According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer is “by far the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.” Have you heard of people getting diagnosed with lung cancer who have never smoked? This is no joke.

Newsweek reports: The American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine recently reported that scientists at Norway’s University of Bergen tracked 6,000 people, with an average age of 34 at the time of enrollment in the study, who used cleaning products over a period of twenty years.

They found that lung function decline in women, who regularly used cleaning products, was equivalent over the period to those with a 20-cigarette daily smoking habit. That’s a pack a day. These cleaning substances also have the added threat of fueling the most prevalent type of Alzheimer’s, “Inhalational” Alzheimer’s.

Please don’t assume that what you are smelling with your cleaning products, or your laundry products are “all roses” for your health – they aren’t if you are worried about preventable disease. Simply use natural cleaning products and essential oils and enjoy longer and better health. Don’t wait – switch now.
